NU Voyage

under NISP program, i took a course this semester known as Laboratory for fisheries science, by the end of the course, it was concluded with 2 time of short voyage on two of Nagasaki University’s Research Ship – TS Nagasaki-maru and TS Kakuyo-maru.

Nagasaki Maru

The experience was amazing! I learned about some basic Navigation and positioning skills. For example, calculating vessel speed, determining position, radar plotting and so on. Nagasaki Maru experience was great with good ship-mates, and a good environment to practise Japanese. Well the lectures are totally in Japanese, i had no choice but to concentrate in order to understand what the conductors were saying.

On the other hand on Kakuyo Maru, i vomitted for more than 8 times in just two short day.  The vessal was small and it waved so hard just like those in the Theme Park, except u experience it for 2 days non-stop. Imagine it.  Most of the students vomitted a few times and skipped lunch (before lunch, the ship moved in its highest speed to our destination).

By evening, we are given free time. Some of them went fishing.

You can play Monopoly if you like. Japanese version rocks.

By night fall, everything became quiet.
